2010 AMIA Summit on Translational Bioinformatics
Thanks to all who attended, making this event a great success!
This meeting was an indispensible gathering for translational bioinformatics researchers worldwide. With the completion of human and model organism genomes, and the increasing utilization of biomedical computational methods, translational bioinformatics is evolving rapidly into a complex multidisciplinary field encompassing nearly all areas of biological, biomedical and clinical research. Indeed, biomolecular and clinical informatics, statistical genetics and genomic medicine, are poised to jointly play an increasing role in accelerating the translation of knowledge discovery from genome scale studies to effective treatment and tailored disease management and health care. The Summit has continued to cover the specific and tractable needs of translational bioinformatics and more importantly, to identify challenges facing this emerging field.
The 2010 Scientific Program Committee and Advisory Committee designed a comprehensive scientific program with tutorials, lectures, panels, and posters that are designed to feature the foremost breakthroughs in biomolecular and clinical informatics as well as the innovative deployment and translation of informatics research products to biomedical research. The 2010 AMIA TBI Summit was once again a stimulating and informative experience and a testimony to the commitment of this rapidly growing research community to work together on unified interests to catalyze discoveries and innovations in biomedical research and patient care.
We hope to see you again next year, in San Francisco in March of 2011!
More information about the AMIA Summits on Translational Science
The AMIA Summits on Translational Science are a set of joint conferences held in the same venue with each focused exclusively on translational bioinformatics and clinical research informatics. The AMIA Summit on Translational Bioinformatics (TBI Summit) and AMIA Summit on Clinical Research Informatics (CRI Summit) will immediately follow one another, providing a unique opportunity to bring together the finest minds in bioinformatics and clinical research informatics from the academia, industry, government and non-profit sectors along with those with an interest in the full translational science spectrum. By adjoining these meetings, we hope to synergize work at their intersecting areas building on the strategy of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to stimulate advanced translational research (T1 & T2), thereby bringing added value to both the clinical research informatics and bioinformatics communities and accelerating benefits to the larger healthcare community.
